== Surface Pro vs. Surface RT ==
The Surface Pro and Surface RT were two distinct devices marketed by Microsoft as part of its Surface tablet lineup, launched in 2012 and 2013 respectively.<ref name="ref1" /><ref name="ref2" /> While they shared a similar design, their internal hardware, operating systems, and intended use cases were fundamentally different. The most significant distinction between the two devices was their processor architecture and operating system. The Surface Pro featured an Intel Core i5 processor, which allowed it to run the full 64-bit version of Windows 8 Pro. This meant it was compatible with traditional desktop applications. In contrast, the Surface RT used an ARM-based Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and ran Windows RT, a specialized version of Windows that could only run applications from the Windows Store. This limitation prevented users from installing legacy desktop programs.<ref name="ref3" />

Their physical characteristics also varied. The Surface Pro was thicker and heavier to accommodate its more powerful components and a cooling fan.<ref name="ref3" /><ref name="ref4" /> The Surface RT, being fanless, was thinner and lighter.
